Alissa Guernsey was a happy and healthy little girl. She was placed in foster care with her mothers cousin and within 110 days she was dead. During that time she endured stitches to the head, a broken arm, severe cuts inside her mouth, handfuls of her hair ripped out, and bruising over her head and body. The final blows to her tiny head ended her life. She was strapped into a carseat, driven around town, and left to die while her siblings watched.
For the brutal torture and murder of Alissa, her murderer Christy Shaffer, served 77 DAYS of a 10 year sentence for ‘Neglect’.

Keeping Up With The Holsbys

Nobody ever wants to imagine their child getting hurt, but the thing about life is that everyone needs to paddle their own canoe, and one day our kids will set sail without us.

Today, I’m writing for Lori over at Randon Ramblings of a Stay at Home Mum (RRSAHM). If you don’t know Lori, she’s a beautiful writer and a hell of a woman.
After the tragic loss of her husband, she laid her soul bare on her journey back to being ok.

Lori is about to embark on the journey of a lifetime by going to Borneo to raise money for the Orang Utans.
I wish I was going, but my own monkeys are still too little.

I can remember the very first time my son, D Man, hurt himself on my watch. It was one of those split second, yet slow motion, affairs that consisted of him rolling…

A man pleaded guilty to child sex offenses Wednesday and received his second prison sentence this year, according to the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office.

Randy Lamar Creswell, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of indecent liberties with a child and felony child sexual abuse, according to the Cleveland County Clerk’s Office.

He was sentenced to two and a half to three years in prison.

In May, he pleaded guilty to similar charges in Gaston County and received a sentence of 19 to 23 years in prison, said Cleveland County Assistant District Attorney Beth Lari.

Lari said Creswell mostly lived in Gaston County but spent a period of time in Cleveland County where some of the alleged incidents occurred.

Lari said there were three victims, but one decided not to proceed with charges.

She said some of the abuse happened from 1996 to 1997, while other incidents were more recent.

Both of the girls were under the age of 12, Lari said, when Creswell fondled the girls and had them touch him inappropriately.

Creswell originally faced Cleveland County charges of five counts of indecent liberties, felony child sexual abuse, and first-degree statutory rape.

Who started White Balloon Day?

Braveheart foundation founder Hetty Johnston started White Balloon Day after discovering a family member had been sexually assaulting children, including her daughter, for more than 40 years without anybody speaking out. Since then, she founded Bravehearts foundation in 1997, and further White Balloon Day in 1999 after a flood of sexual assault reports came in to the Queensland Authorities. Hetty Johnston has become Australia’s leading child protection advocate and is an intricate part in Australia’s take down of child sexual assault.
